E esse mesmo clichê pode ser usado para definir o momento na vida da gaúcha Maria Portela, que após seis anos morando em São Paulo voltou ao seu estado de origem, onde vai treinar e competir a partir de 2011, defendendo as cores da Oi/Sogipa. A atleta de 22 anos da categoria até 70 kg assinou contrato até os Jogos Olímpicos de Londres-2012.
Atualmente a número 1 da sua categoria no Brasil, ela foi bronze na Copa do Mundo de São Paulo e quinto lugar no Grand Slam do Rio desse ano. Além disso, já está classificada diretamente para segunda seletiva Londres-2012, na próxima temporada. Sua contratação elevou para 15 o número de judocas do Rio Grande do Sul envolvidos na seletiva.
Um dos responsáveis pela repatriação de Maria Portela, o vice-presidente de esportes da Sogipa, Alexandre Algeri, exaltou a visão olímpica do clube:
“O Projeto Olímpico da Sogipa fica mais forte com a contratação da Maria Portela na categoria -70kg, onde nós já temos duas atletas de ponta também (Natália Bordignon e Márcia Vieira)”, ressaltou. “Consolidamos assim um grande time no naipe feminino de judô”, concluiu.
Da mesma forma, seguiu o treinador da Sogipa e diretor técnico da Federação Gaúcha de Judô, Antônio Carlos Pereira, o Kiko.
“Temos duas excelentes atletas já no grupo atual. A Maria Portela com certeza vai acrescentar muito em qualidade para este grupo”, avaliou. “Já tínhamos uma equipe feminina muito forte e agora ela se reforça. Já começamos a trabalhar para conquistar metas ambiciosas em 2011″, completou.
Maria Portela já está em solo gaúcho. Depois de assinar com a Sogipa, ela foi descansar com a família em Santa Maria, no Centro do Estado, sua cidade natal. A partir de janeiro, ela retoma a vida em Porto Alegre e novo clube.
