Judoca campeão olímpico assina com Strikeforce

O japonês Satoshi Ishii fará sua estreia no evento norte-americano dia 1 de abril contra Scott Lighty

O campeão olímpico de judô Satoshi Ishii foi anunciado nesta segunda-feira como novo contratado do Strikeforce. O japonês já tem, inclusive, data e adversário definido para estreia em território norte-americano. O faixa-preta enfrentará Scott Lighty no Strikeforce Challengers 15, evento que acontece dia 1 de abril, em Stockton, na Califórnia, Estados Unidos.

Ishii, que conquistou a medalha de ouro na categoria acima de 100kg nas Olimpíadas de Pequim, em 2008, debutou no MMA em dezembro de 2009, quando foi derrotado pelo compatriota Hidehiko Yoshida. Desde então, Satoshi voltou ao ringue em quatro oportunidades e venceu em todas as apresentações. Em seu último confronto derrotou o francês Jerome Le Banner, na decisão unânime dos juízes.

O Strikeforce Challengers 15 trará como atração principal o confronto entre o brasileiro Rodrigo Damm diante do norte-americano Justin Wilcox. Confira abaixo o card parcial do evento:

Olympic champion judoka signs with Strikeforce

Japan's Satoshi Ishii will make his debut in the event the U.S. on April 1 against Scott Lighty
Olympic judo champion Satoshi Ishii was announced Monday as the new hire Strikeforce. The Japanese already have, including date and opponent set to debut in U.S. territory. The black belt will face Scott Lighty Strikeforce Challengers 15, an event that happens on April 1, in Stockton, California, United States.
Ishii, who won the gold medal in the category above 100kg at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, debuted in MMA in December 2009, when he was defeated by compatriot Hidehiko Yoshida. Since then, Satoshi returned to the ring on four occasions and won in all presentations. In their latest confrontation beat Frenchman Jerome Le Banner, the unanimous decision.
